Who we are
Focal VT is operated by Wise Eyes LLC, Southfield, Michigan. The program is dispensed by eye doctors to their own patients; accounts are created by a parent or guardian using a code from that doctor.
What we collect and why
| Email and password | To sign you in. Passwords are stored only as a hash — we never see the original. |
| Child first name, birth year | To age-adjust the program and label results for the doctor. |
| Exercise results | Scores, demands reached, session length, dates. This is the clinical record the doctor reviews. |
| Screen and glasses calibration | Kept on your device so targets render at the correct size and color. |

The camera
One exercise can use the camera to verify the lens paddle is being turned. No image or video leaves your device. The feed is reduced to a 48×36 grid, too coarse to identify a face, and only the difference between successive frames is measured. Nothing is recorded or uploaded — only a count of detected flips is saved. You can decline camera access and still use the exercise.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not use it for advertising, and there are no ad trackers in the app.
- We do not use it to train machine-learning models.
- There are no social features, so children cannot be contacted through the program.
Who we share with
The prescribing doctor and their clinical staff, because reviewing progress is the purpose of the program. Our hosting and database providers process data on our behalf under contract. We disclose information otherwise only where the law requires it.
Children
The program is intended for children, and accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian who provides consent first. We collect only what the therapy needs. A parent may review what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, at any time.
Medical records and HIPAA
Where a doctor uses Focal VT as part of care, information about your child may also form part of that doctor's medical record. Their own privacy notice governs that record, and your rights in it come from them. Where Wise Eyes LLC acts as a business associate of a covered practice, we do so under a written agreement.
Retention, security, location
We keep data while the account is active and delete it on request. Data is held on servers in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect, restrict who can reach it, and do not keep what we do not need.
Your choices
Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion at privacy@focalvt.com. Withdrawing consent ends your child's use of the program; your doctor may still retain their own medical record independently.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we will say so in the app and, where the change affects consent, ask you to agree again rather than assume.
